Aims: 

 

This course is to prepare students for Maltese Advanced matriculation exam, held by the University of Malta. 

 

Course structure: 

 

The students are offered two lessons of two hours per week. Tutors cover the syllabus for Maltese advanced matriculation and lessons incorporate preparation for language and literature sections of the exam. Students are given typed notes related to the poetry themes taken from the text book "Il-Poezija Maltija". Further notes related to the other text books are given. Students are also handed notes regarding the lives and works of poets/ authors, figures of speech and other general notes. Students are also prepared and trained for the criticism papers Linguistic essays and related notes are also covered from the text book "Lingwa u Lingwistika". Students are given written tasks for homework every week which include general essays linguistic essays, literature essays and the like. At the end of the course a mock-test modelled on the exam paper is given. During the course students are divided into small groups to ensure individual attention. 

 

Course duration and time table of lessons: 

 

Courses would generally last between eight to nine months. Students attend for two-hour sessions twice a week. Lessons are held from Monday to Friday at 3:30 to 5:30 pm or 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Saturday 8:00 to 10:00 am or 10:00 to 12:00 noon.
